What is a S.A.M.?
Synod Authorized Ministers (SAMs) play a vital role in the life of the Virginia Synod, offering faithful leadership and pastoral support in places where a congregation’s needs exceed the availability of ordained clergy. SAMs are trusted lay leaders who have completed specialized theological and practical training, equipping them to serve in partnership with the Synod and under the supervision of ordained pastors.

About Our SAM Ministry
A Synod Authorized Minister (SAM) serves a congregation for a defined, one‑year term. This ministry is not intended to be long‑term, but it provides essential leadership and support while a congregation prepares for or engages in the pastoral call process. At this time, our congregation is open to calling a full‑time pastor, and the SAM program helps us remain active and supported during this transition.
Our SAM: Pam
