Our Story
History
Faith Lutheran Church was
established in 1965 through the
merger of St. David’s Lutheran
and Mt. Zion Lutheran Churches,
marking the start of a unified
congregation. In 1973, the church
broke ground on its current
building, and by 1974, the first
services took place in the new
space. Just five years later, in 1979,
the building was completely paid
off, and Rev. L. Crockett Huddle
was appointed as the first full-
time pastor. The church continued
to flourish, acquiring an Allen
Organ in 1987 to enhance the
worship music experience.
In 1993, Rev. James Henneberger
was called to serve, and that same
year, Faith Lutheran launched its
preschool with 12 students. A new
piano was added in 1994, further
enriching the musical atmosphere.
Rev. James Ritchie joined the
church in 1999, and in 2000, a new
addition was constructed to
support the growing ministries.
Rev. Shelby DePriest began her
pastoral leadership in 2002,
serving faithfully until the
conclusion of her remarkable
tenure in 2018.
A new chapter commenced in 2022 with the
appointment of Rev. Larry Closter and the
revitalization of the Youth Group,
breathing new life into the church’s outreach
to younger members, which grew
from just three to 15 participants! As youth
membership evolves, we continue to
honor the legacy of ministry. In 2025,
Pastor Larry’s impactful service came to an end, followed by a brief period of
Supply Pastoral Leadership lasting five months, until the Interim call of Pastor
Robin Ferree. Subsequently, longtime member Pam Kitner embraced a new role
as a Synod Authorized Minister, carrying forward the legacy of leadership and
faith at Faith Lutheran
